Hyun Young Kim is a fashion Designer with significant resume and love for couture born and raised in South Korea. She moved to the United States after finishing high school and attend the Otis College of Art and Design’s MA in fashion design.

She has interned in several companies, such as Hurley LLC and Reebok Ltd.

During her school time, she had the opportunity to work with different designers from all around the world such as for Prairie Underground and Todd Oldham.

Throughout her journey, she experienced all different styles; she worked with Anne Cole for women’s swimwear or Roxy for junior wear and Todd Oldham for couture. At the 2016 Otis graduation fashion show,  she was selected as the winner for Todd Oldham group.

In the path of discovering her interest and passion she found herself to enjoy making sophisticated clothing. Her inspiration comes from research into architecture and historical photography, and focusing particularly on womenswear detailing. She usually starts rendered and illustrated for a better visual. Then she would move to making the clothing, from draping, pattern drafting and then fittings.

In the gallery of her work there are several approaches to her own aesthetic. Most of the designs are better ready-to-wear. Her goal is to make every garment modern and constructed, while also creating garments that can be shared in people daily lives and not only for special occasions.

Currently she is working at Reebok in Boston, USA to share her ideas of beauty with those who appreciate modern aesthetics.
